Blueberry Pancakes & the WGA Picket Line

Welcome to my foodblog. I'll get right to a recipe.
Before hitting the Paramount Studios WGA picket line, The 99 Cent Chef carbo-loaded on blueberry pancakes. My local 99c only Store is carrying a pancake mix and fresh blueberries, a perfect combination.

Directions

Just add a 4.4oz container of blueberries, when mixing up the pancake batter, per box instructions.








Finding a decent 99 cent syrup can be difficult; if you do, let me know.

Love your blog!

Regarding syrup - you can make cinnamon syrup with sugar, water, cinnamon and heavy cream - all ingredients you can find at the 99¢ store! And if you don't want to use the cream, you can do a T or two of butter or margerine to soften syrup.

Cinnamon Syrup:
1 cup water
1 cup packed dark brown sugar
2 tablespoons whipping cream
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

To make the syrup: Combine 1 cup of water and brown sugar in a heavy medium saucepan. Bring to a boil over high heat, stirring until the sugar dissolves. Boil until the syrup reduces to 1 cup, about 10 minutes. Remove from the heat and whisk in the cream and cinnamon. Keep the syrup warm. (The syrup can be made 1 day ahead. Cool, then cover and refrigerate. Rewarm before serving.)

Plus, some folks use warm honey instead of syrup on their pancakes so, grab a honey bear from the 99¢ store and feast a way!

I make my blueberry pancakes just like this!

For syrup I make my own!

1 C. water
2 C. sugar
1/4 tsp maple flavoring

Mix ingredients together in a saucepan and bring to a boil. Simmer about 3 minutes and cool a little before using, and there you have your own 99 cent store syrup.
